LIVE-ACTION / PRODUCTION PROCESS

Managing live-action productions from development to delivery.

Producer · 2025–2026

50–70 cast & crew~$200K / live-action project

Owned the creative and operational workflow for short dramas: developing scripts, assembling productions, overseeing shoots, and coordinating post-production.

Development & localization
  • Local writers: researched previous titles and genre performance data to develop stronger scripts, emotional beats, and audience hooks.
  • International writers: localized scripts from China and other non-English-speaking markets, adapting dialogue, cultural references, and story details for North American audiences.
Pre-production & filming
  • Assembled approximately 50–70 cast and crew and planned productions around a four-week preparation period and two-week shoot.
  • Managed live-action budgets of approximately $200K per project, production schedules, and crew coordination.
  • Aligned directors, DPs, and designers on creative priorities, shot lists, and design elements.
  • Coordinated locations, picture vehicles, transportation, lifeguards, studio teachers, intimacy coordinators, and stunt coordination.
  • During filming, checked creative execution and shooting progress, resolving issues as they arose.
Post-production & delivery
  • Oversaw editing schedules and quality.
  • Coordinated completion and delivery of color grading, sound mixing, and subtitles.
  • Developed poster design proposals and managed feedback and revisions directly with designers.
  • Prepared creative pitches, review reports, and weekly progress updates.
Results in context: Most projects in this body of work received more than 5M views. Viewership reflects my work across live-action and AI-generated formats.

Vendor managementCreative direction alignment

Managed AI-generated short-drama projects from script development and creative pitching through vendor reviews, revisions, and final delivery.

My ownership
  • Vendor selection: sourced, shortlisted, and selected production vendors across Asia.
  • Creative briefs: developed detailed pitches and episode-level shot lists centered on keyframes to communicate story, tone, and visual intent.
  • Visual references: used Midjourney to establish character, environment, costume, and styling references.
  • Production reviews: provided detailed notes on emotional beats, editing rhythm, and performance; worked with vendors to refine the output.
  • Operational delivery: managed production budgets, schedules, deliverable reviews, and final handoff.
Case study: aligning a cross-border vendor

The challenge

A vendor’s art and directing teams interpreted the story differently. Working across countries added complexity to aligning the writer’s intent and the overall visual style.

My approach

  • Clarified narrative motivation and creative priorities through detailed pitches and discussions.
  • Reviewed visual assets and keyframes with vendors and designers to establish a shared direction.
  • Gave specific visual revision notes and coordinated follow-up reviews across teams.

The outcome

Resolved differences in interpretation and delivered the projects on schedule.

Hands-on tools & reporting
  • Hands-on generation experience with Seedance and visual reference development with Midjourney.
  • Creative pitches, review reports, and weekly progress updates to communicate direction, feedback, and status.
